Bearing Lightness

I’d happily bear lightness
Instead of continually returning
To the rose garden to find
All the roses gone, the beds
Turned over, the dishes broken
And house forlorn, no home
On Earth but a wish lost
In a fountain, fallen down a well
Longing itself divides me
From the lightness I long for
And I loathe my empty heart
